PF Registration (EPF Registration)

Employee Provident Fund Registration Services by HIVA Professionals

PF (EPF) Registration is mandatory for eligible establishments under the Employees’ Provident Fund Act to provide social security benefits to employees. It enables employers to contribute towards employees’ provident fund, pension, and insurance benefits. Proper EPF registration ensures legal compliance and strengthens employee financial security.

What is PF Registration?

PF Registration refers to registering an establishment with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. It ensures that employees receive retirement and social security benefits.

Who Needs PF Registration?

  • Businesses employing 20 or more employees
  • Establishments notified by the government
  • Companies opting for voluntary registration
  • Once registered, monthly PF contributions become compulsory.

Types of PF

01
Statutory Provident Fund
(SPF)

Statutory Provident Fund, also known as the General Provident Fund (GPF), is mainly meant for government employees, railways, universities, and certain notified institutions. Employees contribute a portion of their salary to the fund and earn interest at a rate fixed by the government.

02
Recognized Provident Fund
(RPF)

Recognized Provident Fund applies to employees working in private organizations with 20 or more employees. The fund must be approved by the Commissioner of Income Tax and both employer and employee contribute regularly to the PF account.

03
Unrecognized Provident Fund
(URPF)

An Unrecognized Provident Fund is a scheme that has not been approved by the Commissioner of Income Tax. Such funds may be maintained by employers but do not receive the same tax benefits as recognized provident funds.

04
Public Provident Fund
(PPF)

Public Provident Fund is a government-backed savings scheme open to the general public. Any individual, including salaried or self-employed persons, can invest in this scheme with a minimum yearly contribution and a 15-year investment period.
